Talking about Simply Fancy Frocks

Simply Fancy Frocks
I went up to the House of Lords last month and had a good time; it was brilliant to meet all the other winners and felt humbled by some of the adversities overcome by others. I managed to get there and back all in one day and have a look around London as well, it only took me about a week to recover!

I've finished another wedding dress this month in Henna coloured silk, a corset top, skirt and short jacket. Lotte who is an artist did her own decoration on it with coloured ribbons and crystals. When I get pictures of it they'll be added to my site.

I'm busy planning next year and deciding what to do when and what free spaces I've got, so far I've taken orders for 3 dresses and I'm really excited about them, all in different styles and colours; it's so lovely to be able to take peoples ideas and make them into a real dress.

It's nearly time for Christmas so there will be the last minute rush of shortening/taking in/alterations for the festive season, I must get my Christmas shopping done so that I'm not panic buying all the leftovers again this year.

This will be my last posting for 2009 so I'll be back next year,

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

CAMARTHENSHIRE DISABLED ENTREPRENUR PICKS UP HIGHLY COMMENDED AWARD

Marian Gill, a disabled entrepreneur from Laugharne in Camarthenshire has been highly commended in national competition called the Ready to Start Entrepreneur Awards.

Marian from Simply Fancy Frocks was presented with a certificate by Angela Burns AM.

Marian Gill, said: “It is a great honour to receive this highly commended certificate and to have Simply Fancy Frocks recognised in this way.

Support from Ready to Start has meant I have been able gain the skills to make the business grow and overcome the fear, prejudice and misconception that often stand in the way of disabled people."

Marian has been able to grow her business acumen thanks to support from Martin Moore, Ready to Start Regional Co-ordinator for Wales & West.

Martin Moore, said: “Initiatives like Ready to Start play a vital role in empowering disabled people to realise their dreams of running their own business.

“Many disabled people find working for themselves an ideal way to earn a living as they can choose to work from home and arrange hours that suit them.”
